Environmental Studies on the Piedmont

We are a private research, education and conservation organization headquartered on a 914 acre field station, just north of Warrenton, Virginia, in the Northern Piedmont. With upland forest, meadow, wetland, vernal pool, stream, pond and small lake habitats, the Environmental Studies on the Piedmont (ES) field station is a rich resource for indigenous plant and wildlife studies.

Environmental Studies emphasizes conservation. We integrate nature with human activity and development needs so that natural resources are sustainably renewed instead of depleted. We believe this depends upon bringing scientists and the public together in partnership. We do this by encouraging community participation in our research through hands-on education and volunteer programs. We encourage the public, K-12 teachers, university faculty, researchers and other interested groups to use our facility. Check out the Calendar for planned events or contact us to set up a new event.
